- Reito walked aimlessly through the halls of the underground, wondering what he should do for the day. He had slept only a few hours since he had heard the signs of a thunderstorm coming in and during the night, stayed awake, since he absolutely hated the loud thunder and bright lighting. It reminded him of stories he saw online of how people would get killed from the small strikes, which only increased his nightmares and forced him to stay awake and pray nothing could hit him. He yawned loudly into his hand and continue walking along. "Tired....need coffee..." He mumbled to himself before he suddenly ran into a hard figure and fell back onto his buttocks. He winced a bit and glanced up to see what he had run into. His eyes widened in horror when he realized he had ran into someone, not something. Quickly jumping up, he began to let out stuttered apologizes and ask if they were in need of medical attention. He was overreacting yet again. The person seemed to not have noticed him until hearing him actually spoke. Vaan turned around, staring at the panicking other. He blinked a moment, wondering why he was apologizing if he hadn't done anything, or had he? He had been too busy concentrating on other important things. Like smoking and the coffee scent that was coming from the kitchen area. After a few minutes passed of the constant apologizing, he finally spoke. "What are you sorry for?" He pulled his cigarette from his mouth and blew a puff of smoke into the other's face, hoping it would shut him up. It did. Reito quickly stopped talking and coughed, waving his hand wildly to get rid of the smell. "B-Bumping into.." He stuttered, but noticed the look of honest confusion at his response. "...um..I bumped into you just now...?" He whispered lowly, not sure if he was going crazy or not. Maybe he had bumped into an invisible force instead? Vaan took a moment to think before remembering a faint feeling on his back for a minute then suddenly Reito's apologizes. "Ahh..it's alright, I guess." He shrugged and got another big whiff of the fresh coffee. He quickly resumed walking to the kitchen area, leaving a confused Reito behind before he quickly followed after to see why he was in such a hurry.
"Um...that's a lot of coffee..." Reito stared at the two empty coffee pots and now saw him working on the next full pot. He looked to his own half empty cup, he was still on his second while Vaan was probably on his 46th. "Y-you shouldn't drink anymore." He waved his hands a bit, watching him chug down another glass before pouring more. "A-ahh..." He wondered if he should hide the remaining coffee pot now. "Mm?" Vaan looked to Reito and then leaned over, pouring him another cup up to the top. "There you go." He then drank his own cup while Reito stared at his cup, seeing the coffee slipping down the sides and ready to topple over if touched even a little. "Drink, it's free and good." Vaan finally placed his cup down and tugged out a new cigarette, placing it between his lips, but not lighting it yet. "No thanks..!" Reito left the cup alone and glanced around the cafeteria, seeing people lingering at tables, chatting or working, but mostly just chatting and getting along. It seemed today was a good day to relax for once instead of being on their toes every second. He looked away, yawning lightly into his hand. God, he was so tired. "You should drink your coffee before you sleep on it instead." Reito glanced to Vaan, only to have his nostrils filled with smoke again. He coughed and turned away. He was pretty sure he would probably die from second hand smoking now if he hung around Vaan a lot. "I'm fine, just a little tired." He smiled weakly, blocking his nose with his hand to keep anymore smoke from killing his lungs. "Last night's storm was..um...loud..." He squeaked a bit, not really wanting to think about the previous night at all. "Storm..?" He thought a minute. "Oh right, I think I slept through that." He took in another whiff on his cigarette. "Though Kyle woke me up sometimes, seemed like he isn't a big fan of storms either." ".....Kyle...?" Vaan paused and realized what he said. He grew silent and glanced away, continuing to smoke. He wasn't one to talk about his relationships to others, so this was kind of awkward on his part. He could see from the corner of his eye the look of curiosity from the other, waiting for him to explain. "Nothing..." Reito frowned a bit at the obvious lie but didn't push further. He didn't want to make him angry by accident and he felt he would be nosy if he even tried to learn more. Dropping the subject, he glanced to his coffee again, wondering if he would be able to drink it without spilling it just by picking it up. He bit his lip and carefully grabbed the cup and only a small inch in the air, the liquid spilled down the sides on and onto Reito's fingers. The liquid was hot, very hot. "AH!" He dropped the cup, only to feel it splash onto his vest and hear the cup roll and fall onto the floor, smashing on the ground into pieces. He quickly stood up and pulled on his vest a bit to keep the now wet and hot material from touching his skin. One of the cooks came over to see what had happened but was quickly halted by Reito who began his usual panicked apologizes and bows. The cook laughed nervously, confused by the behavior and attempted to calm down other down, trying to clean the mess and make sure Reito was okay, but with the man moving so much, it was a difficult task. He glanced to Vaan who was just leaning back in his chair and laughing at the sight. With a sigh, the cook knew this would take a while.
Reito stepped out his room, wearing one of his old, long sleeves shirts. He picked at the fabric, too used to his vest and gave a sigh as he hoped the stains would come out from his vest. He closed the door and turn to head down the hall, only to, yet again, bump into a hard figure. Instead of falling back, his arm was grabbed and he was tugged back into standing position. "You really need to watch where you're going." The scent of coffee mixed with cigarettes instantly gave away who the other was to Reito. "Sorry..!!" Reito quickly stepped back, crossing his arms behind his back. "U-uh...." He wasn't very sure what to say at this point. This was unexpected, just as earlier, but even more unexpected since Vaan was near his room. "Did...you need help with something...? Or got lost...? I think some maps are over there..." He pointed down the hall. Vaan pulled his cigarette from his mouth, exhaling smoke up into the air and not into Reito's face for once. "Just came to see if you were okay. You're really clumsy, so thought you would hurt yourself more." Reito laughed weakly, knowing it was very true. Earlier while he had been getting a new shirt, he had hit his head on the hanger rail. He decided to keep that information to himself. "Well I'm fine. Thank you for checking up on me." He gave a small smile before he noticed that one of Vaan's hands was behind his back. "Hmm..?" He tilted his head a bit to see what he was trying to hide. Vaan seemed to notice and pulled his hand out, dropping a blanket over the man's head. Reito stared at the dark fabric for a moment before tugging it up a bit to see. "Uh...wh--" "You gave me a blanket last time. So giving you one this time." He was still unsure as to why Reito had given him the blanket before. He hadn't been sick or anything, only just got out the shower and was just relaxing a bit before he properly dried off and continued on his day. So he assumed maybe it was just a Reito thing, the man was odd, but nice. "...ohh...." Reito had taken a moment to understand what he was talking about before remembering back the previous event. He held onto the blanket and could already smell the scent of smoke radiating from it. But it didn't bother him for once, it was a nice gesture he didn't want to give it up. "Thank you Vaan." He smiled to him and returned his attention back on the blanket. Vaan could almost picture a little mouse wiggling around the blanket, enjoying the warmth and trying to not be noticed. He let out a small chuckle and patted Reito's head a bit, walking past him. "Have fun." "O-oh, wait a minute...!" Vaan paused and turned back, only to see Reito run into his room quickly. He moved over to the wall and leaned back, waiting patiently as he continued to smoke his cigarette and scratch his chin. "Nn, need to shave.." he mumbled, but knew in the back of his mind he was going to forget again as always. Reito reappeared and walked over to Vaan, almost grinning, which was a first since the man barely even smiled much. "I redid your snowflake." Reito had the habit of giving others snowflakes as a sign of wanting to become friends, which was a odd gesture and confusing as well. His previous snowflakes had been regularly and just cut from paper before he started putting on mustaches to make them more 'manly'. He held up the snowflake, this one had black specks on the bottom of the flake, like Vaan's soon-to-be beard, and in the middle was a pasted on slim, squared piece of paper colored to look like a cigarette. Vaan stared, blinking slowly and trying to process what he was staring at while Reito looked worriedly, wondering if he disliked it before the man suddenly burst out into laughter, and coughing since he had accidentally inhaled too much smoke. "Wh-what's funny..?! Are you okay!? Should I go get a doctor?!" Reito asked in a panic, losing his grip on the snowflake as he tried to pat Vaan's back to get him to breathe properly. Vaan didn't respond, only continued to laugh. These two. Such a weird pair.
